Prior to the start of the season, this was the first time in which both KPL temporary seat team are replaced. 6-time Promotion winner Xianyou Gaming failed to defend their seat for the first time since they were promoted in KPL 2021 Fall promotion. TC Grouping secured their spot in the KPL by winning Promotion, after substituting in for Mighty Tiger Gaming due to the latter failing to meet background checks. In addition, for the first time ever since teams are assigned with cities, a Fixed Seat team relocates with JD Gaming acquiring ViCi Gaming and relocates from Xiamen to Beijing. JD Gaming becomes the 2nd team based in Beijing, the other team being Weibo Gaming.
